Buyers Choice Auction solves problems associated with the traditional auction process
Problem: Don't like the sale order.
Solution: There is no sale order. Buyer can prioritize his choices and bid on them accordingly. All lots are offered and bid on simultaneously.
Problem: Wish I could have bought one of those that are already sold.
Solution: Buyer has the choice to switch to any other lot in the offering if he is outbid. That includes even switching back to one he's bid on before and also switching during extended time bidding.
Problem: Wish I had more time to make my decisions.
Solution: Buyer has ample time to place his bids before the auction end time. At the original end time, the auction will go into extended time bidding. The "inactivity period" will generally be 5 or 10 minutes. (This is set by the seller.) For example: if the inactivity period is set at 10 minutes, that means that if there is no bidding activity for a 10-minute period before the original sale end, all lots are declared sold. On the other hand, if there is just one bid in that 10 minute period, all lots are still available to be bid on or switched to for another 10 minutes from the time of that bid. The auction will be declared closed and all lots sold when there has been no bidding activity in the extended time bidding interval.
Problem: I won't be available to bid on auction day.
Solution: Buyer's Choice Auction has a special feature called ProxyChoice bidding. The bidder can look over the whole sale offering ahead of time and decide what lots he would be willing to buy. The bidder can fill out a ProxyChoice ticket on the website and submit it. On this ProxyChoice ticket, the bidder first tells the computer how MANY lots he wants to buy, then he lists ALL the lots he's interested in, gives each lot a maximum price and prioritizes them. The computer will then do the bidding for him beginning with his top priority lot and working down. The computer will only bid on as many lots as the bidder specifies. If the Proxychoice bid is outbid, the computer moves on down the priority list. (The "What is Buyers Choice" tab above gives more info. about this feature.)
